AICM Supported CCIN to Webcast the Experience in Ensuring Safety
"Completing a period of at least 1 million consecutive work hours without an occupational injury or illness" is the goal of many multinational chemical enterprises in safety production, and has now become an indicator to measure the safety level of domestic chemical enterprises. On April 17, with the support of AICM, China Chemical Industry News(CCIN)webcasted the experience in ensuring safety shared by experts from seven multinational chemical enterprises. They mentioned raising safety awareness and safety level for many times. More than 7,000 audience watched the programme.
Xiao Li, the Chairman of AICM Responsible Care Committee and the Greater China EHS Director of BASF, said that the purpose of responsible care is to voluntarily improve health, safety and environmental quality of petroleum and chemical enterprises globally, and the key to implementing responsible care is to have a strong sense of responsibility. AICM is committed to promoting Responsible Care in China, improving the situation of chemical industry and promoting sustainable development. As a member of AICM, we give the first priority to health and safety. Sustainability should be taken into consideration in the process of decision making and relevant regulations and environmental standards should be strictly observed. BASF has been working to promote employees’ safety by strengthening safety leadership. To improving systematic responsibility care, BASF and other AICM members promote CRSAS together which places great emphasis on the balance among the "golden triangle", namely the regulation, management system and human beings while focusing on improving the weakness in them in accordance with the specific conditions in order to control the risks during the transportation of chemicals. He pointed out that BASF is especially strict in risk management of facilities, equipment and processes.
Han Jianguo, the Senior Expert of AICM Responsible Care Committee, Cabot’s China Responsible Care Manager and the Deputy General Manager of Wuhai Factory, said that Cabot promises to be the forerunner and promoter of responsible care. Therefore, Cabot pays special attention to process safety, employment security, storage and transportation safety, product safety, community awareness and emergency management to improve the safety level in all aspects. Cabot’s four factories in China earned the certification of the new RC14001 management system and require themselves with higher standards. He pointed out that for enterprises committed to safe development, it is very important for leaders to take a good lead in ensuring safety.
