From December 14 to 15, AICM hosted the 2020 ICCA sponsored Capacity Buidling Workshop for Chemical Storage Safety in Shanghai, this workshop is also supported by dangerous goods branch of China Association of warehousing and distribution which some of CPCIF members attended.
Ten years ago, with the support of AICM leaders and the joint efforts of member units, RSQAS, the previous version of CRSAS (China Chemical Road Assessment System), was established. Over the past decade, AICM members have continuously improved the system and made huge progress. The workshop marks the start of a new chapter in logistics safety in China. Participants discussed the establishment of another system chemical warehosue safety assessment system. The meeting was moderated by John Gao, senior manager of AICM Responsible Care and Government & Industry Affairs. Ms.Beryl Ma, executive director of AICM, introduced the functions of AICM and its committees. Beryl expressed her expectation that domestic warehousing enterprises should also refer to the international standards in terms of safety just as AICM members. Mr. Xiao Li, chairman of AICM Responsible Care Committee, introduced the background of Responsible Care and its relationship to CRSAS and AICM'splan for establishing warehouse assessment system and the related evalutaion questionnaires. Mr. Bill Zhou, chairman of AICM Industry Policy and Advocacy Committee, introduced AICM's achievements in lobbying efforts in industrial policies.
Ms. Lidia Li, chair of AICM distribution and transportation safety subcommittee, collected members’ opinions and said that experts of AICM distribution and transportation safety subcommittee agreed that it was imperative to establish a warehouse safety assessment system, strengthen the defense line and build a fortress together for safety. The establishment of this system is the driving force for establishment of a virtual platform for warehousing and transportation operators, encourages them to consciously improve safety standards, and actively cooperate with chemical companies in the storage of hazardous chemicals. The using and evaluation of the questionnaire can effectively improve the internal management system of the company, so as to improve the safety level of chemical storage.
Dr. Luo Aimin from Institute of Hazardous Chemicals Safety Technology, Mr. Li Yuncai, director of Chemical Registration Center under Ministry of Emergency Management Department, Mr. Lin Zhenyu from Secretary General of dangerous goods branch of China Association of storage and distribution, Mr. Li Yan from process safety center of China Association of Chemical Safety shared the opinion on the udpated regualtion and trend related to warehouse storage.
More than 100 participants from warehouse companies, AICM members CPCIF members and related authorites participated in this important moment.
