AICM Successfully Holds 2024 Annual General Meeting

Abstract:The Annual General Meeting of AICM was successfully held in Shanghai on April 29, 2024.

At the general meeting session, Mr. Li Lei, Chairman of AICM, delivered an opening speech. He extended a warm welcome and expressed sincere gratitude to all member companies for their support and contributions to AICM over the past year. He hoped to continue to work together with everyone in the future.


Ms. Tina Dai, Managing Director of AICM, presented a detailed annual report. She expressed that AICM will strengthen communication and cooperation with various stakeholders and look forward to more member companies participating in the future. 


Chairs from committees of AICM delivered each committee’s reports. The Responsible Care Committee (RCC) introduced in detail the efforts and achievements in promoting sustainable development of the chemical industry, strengthening environmental awareness and practices; the Industry Policy Advocacy Committee Committee (IPAC) shared important measures to strengthen the exchange of regulatory affairs and promote technological innovation; the Public Relation and Communications Committee (PRCC) demonstrated AICM's achievements in enhancing brand image and strengthening public communication.


RCC

Kevin Li, Chairman of RCC updated the changes of committee organization structure and new leader team. Then he highlighted achievements in 2023 that we kicked off Uni-lab safety program in Fudan University to bring the concept of Responible Care into campus, meanwhile, we upgraded RC award to make it more distinguish and attractive.After that, Kevin briefed strategies and working plan in 2024 and zoomed in long-term projects and initiatives. To contribute to the development of a harmonious society and the sustainable growth of China's chemical industry, as the representation of the leading international chemical players in China, RC Committee of AICM commits to enhance members capabilities, explore feasible solutions and bridge between enterprises and policy maker.


IPAC

Ms. Bing Wang, as IPAC Chairwoman, delivered a committee report on IPAC’s new structure, highlights in 2023&2024 Q1, and working plan in 2024. IPAC followed strategic plan to key stakeholders in 2023 and made great achievements on proactively addressing members’ needs by providing practical solutions, focusing on key issues benefited members, strengthening key stakeholders relationship and leveraging global resource. We conducted surveys and organized workshops and roundtable meetings, together with over 1000 participants from 50+ member companies involved.


According to work plan and priorities, IPAC will continue to enhance advocacy collaboration with key stakeholder, especially hazardous chemical “One Enterprise One product One Code”, import and export of hazardous chemical, polymer registration difficulties of new chemical, and collaborate international associations to share microplastic and international research projects.

PRCC

Ms. Angel Jin, Chairwoman of Public Relations and Communication Committee (PRCC), first reviewed the work achievements of PRCC in 2023 and the key plans for 2024. In 2023, "Open-to-Public" annual campaign organized by PRCC attracted the participation of near 30 member companies, with over a thouand employees of member companies serving as volunteers. Through diverse activities, local community personnels benefited. In addition, through cooperation with key media in key communication projects, such as the release of sustainability reports and interviews with association leaders, the recognition and public awareness of the AICM industry have been further enhanced. In 2024, PRCC will focus on key work projects such as "Re-branding" to update a new image for AICM and facilitate the association continue to shape a positive and responsible image in the industry.


As an important part of the meeting, leaders of nearly 30 member companies jointly signed the Responsible Care Global Charter. This action demonstrated the social responsibility awareness and commitment of AICM member companies. By signing the charter, these companies committed to actively fulfilling their social responsibilities and promoting the development of the chemical industry towards a more environmentally friendly and sustainable direction. Marcus van Tilborg, AICM Board, said that the Responsible Care Global Charter is of great significance in promoting the sustainable development of the chemical industry, strengthening corporate social responsibility, and enhancing the image of the industry.


In closing speech, Jean-Marc Taton, AICM Board, highly praised the success of AGM and emphasized the importance of collaboration. He stated that AICM will continue to strengthen unity and cooperation, promote exchanges and collaborations among member companies.


AICM also recognized and awarded its key contributors of the year 2023, expressing gratitude for their contributions and support to AICM.


Through this year’s AGM, AICM not only provided a platform for member companies to exchange ideas, but also demonstrated its active efforts and achievements in promoting the development of the chemical industry and strengthening international exchanges and cooperation. With the joint efforts of all members, AICM will continue to promote technological innovation and industrial upgrading in the chemical industry, enabling the sustainable development of China.
