AICM Carbon Neutrality Workshop
AICM Carbon Neutrality Workshop was successfully held in Shanghai Foreign Investment Association meeting room on Jan 18th. Richard Yu, Chairman of AICM Government and Industry Affairs Committee moderated the workshop.
Experts from Engie shared Renewable Electricity Supply, Power retail and Green Certificate,Carbon Trading, Energy Efficiency and Green Thermal related topics. ENGIE’s purpose (“raison d’être”) is to act to accelerate the transition towards a carbon-neutral economy, through reduced energy consumption and more environmentally friendly solutions. This reason for acting is reflected in the new concrete Social and Environmental Responsibility targets announced by the Group when it published its 2019 annual results: - Greenhouse gas emissions from electricity production should be reduced from 149 Mt in 2016 to 43 Mt in 2030 (80 Mt in 2019). - The proportion of renewable energy in the electricity mix should increase from 20% in 2016 to 58% in 2030 (28% in 2019).
Zhang Honglin, VP of Government & Public Affairs and Corporate Communications, Air Liquide shared Air Liquide’s contribution to China's 2060 carbon neutrality goal with Air Liquide's climate actions. He elaborated that in 2018, Air Liquide Group announced the most ambitious climate goals in its industry, namely by 2025 reducing its carbon intensity by 30% compared with 2015. Air Liquide is committed to contributing to China’s goal of reaching carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060 through a series of measures including increasing the use of renewable energy in its plants and improving energy efficiency, helping customers to reduce carbon emissions, and actively promoting the use of new energy sources such as biogas and hydrogen.
